Davids_Rock_and_Readys_Vision_40810_D307806Long Bay Stable's Mitigate will hold the title of first Herringswell Saratoga starter when she breaks from the rail in Friday's second race.

In her debut, the 3-year-old daughter of Vindication finished fourth at Presque Isle Downs on July 1. Traveling 5 1/2 furlongs that night, the $145,000 yearling purchase saved ground and finished evenly to complete the superfecta under Daniel Centeno. Mitigate trailed the leader by 3 1/2 lengths at the first call, and was defeated by the same margin, an old indication that a horse would appreciate a longer distance. In her second start on Friday, she will travel 1 1/16 miles over the rested turf course. New York's leading rider Ramon Dominguez is booked to ride.

On Saturday we send out Joseph V. Shields' Bull Hole. The 3-year-old Mineshaft colt is coming off a career-best effort at Monmouth when he finished second against older horses in a first-level allowance. Bull Hole set the pace that day only to be passed with a sixteenth of a mile to go. Saturday Bull Hole will don blinkers for the first time and get the services of John Velazquez.

Icabad Crane ships in for Evan Shipman

Off since April, Icabad Crane arrived at Saratoga on Wednesday in preparation for his date in Monday's Evan Shipman Stakes. A $70,000 stake for older New York breds, the Evan Shipman is a 1 1/8 miles overnight stake on the main track. Juline Leparoux will ride.

Along for the van ride with the Jump Start 5-year-old were Syzygy, Chingachgook, Turf Melody, Bull Hole and Mitigate.

Other Saturday Action

Miss Mockingbird, coming off a third at Philadelphia last out, will return to Philly on Sunday and be ridden by Frankie Pennington. King Arthur, a son of El Corredor, will make his debut at Philadelphia. The gray will travel 5 furlongs over the Philadelphia grass with Kendrick Carmouche. Rounding out our Saturday runners is Great Inspiration. The Albert the Great filly will run at Delaware Park with Jose Caraballo up.
