Apple Charlotte just missed out on her first Graded Stake win yesterday in the Herecomesthebride Stakes (Grade III) at Gulfstream Park. She clipped heels on the final turn, Jeremy lost his irons and she still made up 5 lengths in the stretch to lose by just half a length. This talented Smart Strike filly has gone from her maiden win to an allowance win and straight to a Graded Stake.
Miss Mockingbird won by 9 1/2 lengths at Penn National last night. This was her first win but obviously pretty impressive! She's by Birdstone and is almost white! Congratulations to Mrs. Debby Oxley.

The first Saturday in March marks a big one for Herringswell Stables as 3-year-old stakes runners Apple Charlotte, Cat Park, Check The Label, Turf Melody and Zilva headline seven entrants.
Our eyes will pin-ball from Aqueduct to Gulfstream to Santa Anita and then to Penn National as we look on our runners that all have the same common denominator. Age.
All seven Saturday runners, also including Chingachgook and Miss Mockingbird, are 3-year-olds. One is already a stakes winner (Turf Melody), while Apple Charlotte, Cat Park, Check The Label and Zilva each look to become one. Chingachgook and Miss Mockingbird are looking to scratch the surface with a maiden win.

I just watched Sillium's race at Penn National and talk about inhale the competition! He had a bad break and was at least 12 lengths behind the leaders but before the turn he started to 'eat' them up!! A little bother in the stretch didn't deter him as he's a big horse and he won on the bridle! Yes, you may say Penn National but there were horses in this race by Fusaichi Pegasus, Medaglio D'oro and Maria's Mon. Not your usual breeding for Penn but it's becoming a pretty competitive track! Many congratulations to owner, breeder Mr. George Strawbridge, Jr.
